How to Find Your Polling Unit Using the MyPollingUnit Mobile App

Thursday, 5 March 2026

Not sure where to vote? The MyPollingUnit mobile app makes it easy to find your polling unit, get directions, and even help other voters find theirs.

Downloading the App

The MyPollingUnit mobile app is available for Android. Visit the Download page on the MyPollingUnit website to get the latest APK. iOS support is coming soon.

Finding Your Polling Unit

Step 1: Open the Find PU Tab

Tap the "Find PU" tab at the bottom of the screen. This is the magnifying glass icon in the tab bar.

Step 2: Search by Name or INEC Code

Type your polling unit name, INEC code (e.g., 01/02/03/001), ward name, or LGA into the search bar. Results appear instantly as you type, showing all matching polling units across Nigeria's 176,000+ units.

Step 3: View Polling Unit Details

Each search result shows:

  • The polling unit name and INEC code
  • The ward, LGA, and state it belongs to
  • A location status: Navigate (GPS available), Under review (location being verified), or No location (GPS not yet submitted)

Step 4: Get Directions

If GPS coordinates are available for your polling unit, tap the green "Navigate" button. This opens Google Maps with turn-by-turn directions from your current location to the polling unit entrance.

Helping Others Find Their Polling Unit (Post a GPS Pin)

If you are a verified voter, you can contribute your polling unit's GPS location to help other voters find it.

How It Works

  1. Go to your polling unit physically — You must be standing at the polling unit entrance.
  2. On the Find PU page, look for the "Share Your PU Location" card.
  3. Tap "Capture GPS Location" — The app will detect your exact coordinates using your phone's GPS.
  4. Review the coordinates and accuracy shown on screen.
  5. Tap "Confirm & Submit" to save the location.

Your GPS pin is stored securely and shown to other voters searching for that polling unit. Multiple submissions from different verified voters improve the accuracy of the location data.

Updating a Previous Submission

If you already submitted a location but want to improve it, return to the Find PU page and tap "Update Location". Stand at the exact entrance of the polling unit and capture your GPS again.

Reporting a Missing Polling Unit

If you search for your polling unit and cannot find it in the database:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Find PU page.
  2. Tap "Report Missing PU".
  3. Fill in the details: State, LGA, Ward, and the polling unit name.
  4. Optionally share the GPS location and any photos of the polling unit signpost.
  5. Submit the report — our team will verify and add the polling unit to the database.

Tips

  • Search using your INEC code for the most precise result. The code is printed on your PVC.
  • Your GPS location is only captured when you tap the button — the app never tracks you in the background.
  • The Navigate feature works best when the polling unit has GPS coordinates. Help fill the gaps by posting your pin!
  • If you are not a verified voter, you can still search for and navigate to polling units, but you cannot submit GPS locations.

Knowing where to vote is the first step. Find your polling unit today and be ready for election day.
