How to Use INEC's Results Viewing Portal (IReV)

Thursday, 26 February 2026

The INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV) is one of the most important transparency tools in Nigerian elections. It allows anyone with internet access to view scanned copies of polling unit result sheets.

What Is IReV?

IReV (INEC Results Viewing) is an online platform where INEC uploads scanned images of polling unit result sheets (EC8A forms) directly from BVAS devices on election day. It was introduced in the 2021 Anambra governorship election and used nationally from the 2023 general elections.

How to Use IReV

Step 1: Visit the Portal

Go to www.irev.inecnigeria.org on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Step 2: Select the Election

Choose the specific election you want to view (e.g., 2023 Presidential, 2023 Governorship).

Step 3: Navigate to Your State

Click on your state on the map or from the list.

Step 4: Select Your LGA

Choose your Local Government Area.

Step 5: Select Your Ward

Choose your ward from the list.

Step 6: View Polling Unit Results

You will see a list of polling units with their uploaded result sheets. Click on a polling unit to view the scanned result sheet.

What You Can See

Each uploaded result shows:

  • The EC8A form (handwritten result sheet) as a scanned image.
  • The number of registered voters and accredited voters.
  • Votes scored by each party/candidate.
  • Signatures of the Presiding Officer and party agents.
  • The date and time of upload.

How to Use IReV Effectively

  1. Compare with what you saw — If you were at a polling unit and witnessed the count, compare the IReV upload with the actual result announced at the polling unit.
  2. Check for discrepancies — Look for alterations, erasures, or inconsistencies on the form.
  3. Verify totals — Add up the individual candidate votes and compare with the total stated on the form.
  4. Note upload times — Results uploaded much later than others in the same area may warrant scrutiny.
  5. Share findings — If you find irregularities, share them with election observers, civil society organizations, and through this app's reporting features.

Limitations of IReV

  • IReV shows only the scanned image of the result sheet — it does not independently tabulate results.
  • The quality of scans can sometimes be poor, making numbers hard to read.
  • Not all polling unit results may be uploaded on time, especially in areas with poor network connectivity.
  • IReV does not replace the official collation process — official results are still declared at collation centres.

Despite these limitations, IReV is a powerful tool for citizen oversight and electoral transparency.
