How to Verify Your PVC Online Before Election Day
Thursday, 26 February 2026
Do not wait until election day to find out whether your PVC is valid or which polling unit you are assigned to. Verify online in advance.
Why Verify?
Verification helps you confirm:
- That your PVC is recognized by INEC and linked to a valid voter record.
- Your exact polling unit name, code, and location.
- That your biometric data is on file (so BVAS can verify you).
- That you have not been accidentally de-registered or moved.
Method 1: INEC Voter Verification Portal
- Visit voters.inecnigeria.org.
- Enter your Voter Identification Number (VIN) — this is the long number on your PVC.
- Enter your surname, state, and LGA of registration.
- Complete the CAPTCHA verification.
- Click Verify.
- Your voter details will be displayed, including your polling unit.
Method 2: INEC SMS/USSD Service
INEC sometimes activates USSD codes for voter verification. Check their website or social media for the current code.
Method 3: This App (Web or Mobile)
Use the "Verify Your Voter Status" feature on MyPollingUnit:
- On the website, click "Verify as Voter" in the sidebar. On the mobile app, tap "Verify" from the home screen.
- Enter your personal details and upload a clear photo of your PVC.
- Take a selfie for face comparison.
- Select your polling unit location — you can enter your INEC polling unit code directly for quick lookup, or browse by State, LGA, Ward, and Polling Unit.
- Submit for review. Our admin team typically responds within 24–48 hours.
What to Do If Verification Fails
- Double-check your VIN — The number is long and easy to mistype.
- Confirm the spelling of your name — Use the exact name you registered with.
- Visit INEC's office — If online verification fails, visit the INEC LGA office where you registered and ask for a physical check.
- Check if you need to re-register — In rare cases, records can be lost. INEC will guide you.
Tips
- Verify at least 2 weeks before election day to have time to resolve any issues.
- Share this information with family and friends — many people discover problems only on election day.
- Take a screenshot of your verification result for your records.
